Imagination: Status - Endangered

I was looking at the list of movies coming up in 2010. Among them were; Alice in Wonderland, Ramona and Beezus, Iron Man 2, Robin Hood, Shrek Forever After, The A-Team, and Toy Story 3. What they have in common is that they are all based on classic books/stories or sequels of something previously made. Have you seen that trend in culture lately? Especially with Disney?
And Hasbro (owners of famous board games such as Scrabble, Candy-land etc)has started developing big budget live-action film adaptations based on their toy and game lines. I think the media industry is losing their creativity but in order to make money is grabbing at any and all available story lines. AND any way to get people into the theater - be it amazingly gory violence or disturbing sex scenes. However good writing in movies is rare to find...seemingly filled with cliches and dumb jokes.
It's not only in media can you find such a lack of imagination. Books, video games, music, and even politics have succumbed to copying their successes (or failures) instead of finding creative alternatives.
Of course there are exceptions to our unimaginative state, maybe more than I think. And I'm not condemning our world to a fate of monotonous entertainment and expression either.
To get the gist of this little rant...our God is very creative (I mean He did create everything that surrounds us, and well, us.)and I believe He wants us to be more creative than what we're taking in - to go deeper and further in this world of ours. I want to encourage all my friends who have so much imagination and can use it to create the most amazing things. Please keep bringing new things to this world.
